Benefits

Strong & Durable - Long strands of the palm fiber add to tensile strength, producing strong, durable packaging.

Reduces Landfill - If the 9.3 billion units of rigid pre-packed produce sold annually in the US were packed in Earthcycle, more than 410 million pounds of waste could be diverted from landfill to compost! The palm fiber that is used to make Earthcycle Packaging was formerly considered a waste product and incinerated or landfilled. So we're reducing landfill at both ends of the life cycle.

Compostable – Earthcycle Packaging is certified compostable, and will naturally biodegrade in a backyard, community, or industrial compost. Polylactide (PLA) requires industrial compost facilities. Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is not compostable. If Earthcycle Packaging was used for all US rigid, pre-packed produce, the resulting compost could grow more than 51 million pounds of tomatoes!

Renewable Resource - Palm fruit is harvested year-round. The raw material cycle time for palm fiber is six months. For petroleum-based packaging like PET, it is 150 million years.

Cost Competitive - Earthcycle Packaging is cost competitive when compared with plastic packaging, PLA and pressed fiber packaging alternatives.

Natural – The natural look and feel of Earthcycle Packaging complements your natural products. There are no harsh chemicals used in the manufacture of Earthcycle Packaging that can leech into your food or garden.

Non-GM - Palm oil plants are not genetically modified.

Ethical Sourcing - our plantation that supplies our raw fiber has been assessed by SGS according to definitions established by the Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). We can claim that the plantation that provides our raw fiber has not converted any environmentally sensitive areas, such as wildlife habitat for endangered species nor cleared forests for the plantation.
